Science Fair

The Science Fair is on Thursday, February 2, 2012

The Science Fair is an opportunity to embark on a great scientific adventure. All Walnut Acres students, Grades K-5, are encouraged to think like young scientists and to submit a project in any science-related field. Projects can be as varied as their interests. Sports, music, art, rocketry, psychology, food, computers...whatever interests them can become an interesting project. Through their projects, students will discover that science is found all around them.

All grades participate, and every child receives a participant ribbon! Three projects from the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades will be entered into the Mount Diablo Unified School District Elementary Science Fair.

Participation in the science fair is mandatory for all 5th graders this year.

As in previous years, there will be class walk-throughs and an open house in the evening, so all students and their families can enjoy the Science Fair projects.

As in previous years, boards ordered through the Science Fair will be delivered to classrooms.

Volunteers

There are many volunteer opportunities for the science fair - judges, class tours, set-up, & open house. If you'd like to volunteer, please contact the science fair coordinators, sciencefair@walnutacrespfc.org.

We need volunteer judges, especially parents with children in younger grades who are able to judge 4th or 5th grade projects.  We usually have ~100 projects in this category, so we'd like to have at least 15 people to be able to complete the process in a timely manner.  No experience is necessary.  Please consider helping and help us spread the word.

Help us go green!

This year registration packets are available for download. A limited number of packages will also be available from the school office.

Please download the registration form (WALNUT ACRES SCIENCE FAIR 2012-flier.pdf) below for more information about the science fair, to register your child, and to sign up to volunteer!
