    PFC President’s Message

“When we are happy, when our mindset and mood are positive, we are smarter, more motivated and thus more successful.”
    -Shawn Anchor

    Greetings Walnut Acres Families!

Walnut Acres is a Distinguished School on many levels!  Ultimately, this would not be possible without strong teachers and the generous and continuous support through volunteering and donations made over the years by our parents.  THANK YOU!

With Dr. Dowd’s vision and strong dedication, we continue to move toward educational excellence in both 21st Century Learning and Common Core Standards.  I want to thank the teachers for welcoming and explaining to our parents the importance of these programs during  Back to School night.  Hearing about all the wonderful learning and fun activities the kids will be doing this year truly makes me so excited for all students at Walnut Acres.

Jaguar Day was a success and I’m thrilled to report that the PFC Jaguar Fund is one step closer to reaching the year long journey to achieving 100% participation from all of our families and the annual financial goal.  With the 2014-15 school year budget, the PFC is committed to support Walnut Acres by continuing to provide classroom and science aides, vocal music, and technology support in the classroom all of which are vital to the success of our children. For those who have not had an opportunity to donate to Jaguar Fund, the donation forms can be found in the school office and on the Walnut Acres PFC website. Your participation will allow the PFC to continue to offer these enriching and supportive programs for each and every one of our students at Walnut Acres.

Many committees and parent volunteers are diligently working to bring our kids the funds and experiences they deserve.  Special thanks to our room parents and room parent committee chairs for working closely with our teachers to fill the many volunteer positions in the classroom and for our PFC community events. I hope to see you and your family at the Walnut Acres Carnival on Saturday, Oct. 25th.  I also invite you to our next PFC meeting scheduled on Oct. 14th at 8:15am!  Please check the PFC calendar and website for more information about upcoming events.

As always, thank you for sharing your invaluable time and talent!

    Your 2014-15 PFC President,

    Monica Chang
